MARGIN workshop "On the concept of marginalization"
On July 10, 2026, the first full-day workshop of the MARGIN doctoral program took place at the University of Applied Sciences Cologne (THK). The workshop was titled “On the concept of marginalization – origins, theoretical perspectives, and implications for research practice” and featured three keynote presentations followed by workshops for doctoral candidates in the afternoon. About 40 doctoral students, professors and scholars from different backgrounds joined the keynote presentations in the morning.

Around 40 doctoral students, professors, and scholars from various disciplinary backgrounds attended the morning keynote sessions. After an extended lunch break, approximately 20 doctoral students participated in two parallel workshops, where they discussed their PhD projects, the relevance of different concepts of marginalization to their own research, and other practical questions related to one another’s work.
